Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase dielectric breakdown strength without degrading mechanical strength by providing specified layers in the suspension insulator where both the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the head section of a specified porcelain main body are coated with glaze.
CONSTITUTION: In the suspension insulator 10 provided with first coating layers 12 which are coated with glaze at both the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the head section of a porcelain main body 11 where a cylindrical head section 11b closed at its upper end section, is provided at its apex section, the surface side of the first coating layer 12 in the inner circumferential surface of the head section 11b is provided with a second coating layer 13 which is higher in dielectric breakdown strength than the first coating layer 12. The second coating layer 13 is desirably formed at least in the inner circumferential surface of a corner section 11b3 which is a boundary section between an upper end horizontal section 11b2 and a side upright section in the head section of the porcelain main body 11.
