PURPOSE: To make it possible to effectively absorb even the sound waves entering from any directions regardless of frequency ranges and to set the acoustic characteristics in a room in accordance with a listeneis choice.
CONSTITUTION: A hanger fitting 24 is fixed to the central part at the top end of an inner electrode 26 formed to a blind cylindrical shape. An outer electrode 28 has a blind cylindrical shape of a size to cover the outer peripheral surface of the inner electrode 26 and the outer peripheral surface of the outer electrode 28 is coated with a film 27 of a polyethylene terephthalate. The outer electrode 28 is freely movable in all directions in a horizontal plane and vertical directions with respect to the inner electrode 26. Eelectrosensitive fluid compsns. for controlling sound wave absorption formed by uniformly dispersing EA particles 2 which are solid particles into electrical insulatable media 1 are housed in the spacing between the inner electrode 26 and the outer electrode 28. Voltage is impressed by a variable power source 29 to the inner electrode 26 and the outer electrode 28 and the on/off of the impressed voltage is executed by a switch 30. The regulation of the impressed voltage value is executed by a voltage control knob.
