PURPOSE: To reduce unevenness of the temperature on the high-temperature surface by rotatably supporting a hollow roll by hollow shaft units, attaching a specified flow path-changing valve to a gas pipe connecting the hollow shaft units so as to form a closed circuit and inserting a fuel injection pipe into the inside of the hollow shaft units.
CONSTITUTION: A roll 11 having a combustion space 12 is rotatably supported by hollow shaft units 13 and 13 and fuel injection is alternately carried out from a fuel injection pipe 16 simultaneously with switching of a flow path- changing valve 24 capable of switching the direction of flow of the combustion gas and air for combustion with time for formation of combustion flame from the respective sides of the roll alternately, thus uniformly heating the surface of the roll.
