The switch device 1 includes a main contact SW1 having a mechanical contact to be inserted into a DC power supply path, a bypass circuit 2 containing a semiconductor switch Q1 made of an MOSFET and inserted between both ends of the main contact SW1, a subsidiary contact SW2 having a mechanical contact and inverting a control signal sent to the gate terminal G of the semiconductor switch Q1, and an interlocking means 3 to interlock the main contact SW1 and the subsidiary contact SW2 with each other. The interlocking means 3 interlocks the ON and OFF operations of the main contact SW1 and the subsidiary contact SW2 so that, when the main contact SW1 is turned ON, the main contact SW1 turns ON and the semiconductor switch Q1 turns OFF after the semiconductor switch Q1 turns ON and, when the main contact SW1 is turned OFF, the semiconductor switch Q1 temporarily turns ON and OFF after the main contact SW1 turns OFF.
