Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply of a simple structure, capable of low power consumption in a standby mode.SOLUTION: The switching power supply includes a sub-switching element, having a smaller power capacity than a main switching element for switching on and off a main current, in parallel with the main switching element through the primary winding of a transformer. A control circuit which controls to switch on and off the main and sub-switching elements includes: a main drive circuit which generates a main drive signal to drive on and off the main switching element according to a control signal generated based on an output voltage obtained from the secondary winding of the transformer; a sub-drive circuit which generates, according to the control signal, a sub-drive signal to drive on and off the sub-switching element; and further, an enable control circuit which controls to halt the operation of the main drive circuit when load power consumption does not reach a predetermined threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
