PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as a lubricant, in a short time in high yield with an extremely simple operation, by dripping a perfluorocarboxylic acid chloride into ammonia water or an amine solution.
CONSTITUTION: The objective perfluorocarboxylic acid amide is produced by dripping a highly reactive perfluorocarboxylic acid chloride in excess ammonia water or an amine solution under cooling, returning the system to normal temperature, removing water from the system and extracting the reaction mixture with ethyl acetate. The perfluorocarboxylic acid chloride used as a starting raw material can be produced by chlorinating the corresponding perfluorocarboxylic acid with thionyl chloride or phosphorus pentachloride in the presence of dimethylformaldehyde.
