Abstract:

To provide a method for synthesizing highly active ruthenium and osmium carbene-metathesis catalysts in high yield from readily available starting materials.

A method for synthesizing the ruthenium and osmium carbene-metathesis catalysts which comprises conducting e.g. a reaction between a ruthenium hydrogen complex and an acetylene group-containing halogen compound such as a tertiary propargyl halide or a dihalide such as dichloromethane, dichloroacetate or ,-dichlorotoluene is provided.
