Abstract:
To make it possible to treat or prevent against toxicity induced in a mammal by a retinoid, vitamin A, and a vitamin A precursor, to prevent or alleviate harmful or undesirable side effects in treating a mammal with retinoids, to enhance the bioactivity of other retinoids and steroid hormones, and to inhibit the basic activity of an unliganded retinoic acid receptor.
An aryl-substituted benzopyran, benzothiopyran, 1,2-dihydroquinoline, or 5,6-dihydronaphthalene derivative which has retinoid negative hormone-like bioactivity and/or retinoid antagonist bioactivity is administered.
