Abstract:

To provide a synthetic fiber for rubber reinforcement having improved elastic modulus, dimensional stability and rubber adhesiveness and suitable for tire cord, driving belt, rubber hose, etc.

The synthetic fiber contains 0.1-15 pts.wt. of an inorganic component composed of a sheet silicate based on 100 pts.wt. of a polymer and has an adhesive for rubber attached to the fiber. Preferably, the sheet silicate is ion-exchanged with an organic onium ion at an exchange ratio of 60-100%, the synthetic fiber is a polyester fiber, particularly a polyethylene terephthalate fiber or a polyethylene naphthalate fiber, the synthetic fiber is a multifilament yarn, the adhesive for rubber is a resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex adhesive, and the synthetic fiber is a twisted cord.
