Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove a lubricating oil in a CFC-based cooling system in order to change the CFC refrigerant into an HFC refrigerant not depletive to the ozonosphere by repeating an operation comprising adding a specified flushing oil to a cooling system previously and partially drained, running the system, and draining the oil.
SOLUTION: In order to retrofit CFC(chlorofluorocarbon)-based cooling system to HFC (hydrofluorocarbon)-based cooling system, the undesired lubricating oil is removed from the cooling system by adding the first batch of a flushing oil being a polycarboxylic ester comprising the formula: R1OOC-Q-COOR2 (wherein Q is a 2-10C hydrocarbon group; and R1 and R2 are each a 6-13C hydrocarbon group), formula I, formula II (wherein R3 is the same as R1), a mixture thereof, etc., (e.g. diisooctyl adipate or the like) to the lubricating container of the cooling system after partial drainage, running the system for a term sufficient to practice a cooling cycle several times, draining that batch of the flushing oil from the system, and repeating the operation until the residual amount of the undesired lubricating oil falls within a specified weight ratio.
