Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive which excels in adhesive properties such as adhesive force, cohesive force, and tack and can easily swell in water even without an alkali treatment.
SOLUTION: The pressure-sensitive adhesive uses a synthetic resin emulsion as the major component of an easily water-swelling pressure-sensitive adhesive composition which contains polymer particles having a core-shell structure, and the shell is composed of a copolymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid and a hydrophilic comonomer, and the core is composed of a copolymer of a monomer mixture composed of a radically polymerizable major monomer and a radically polymerizable functional monomer which are selected from monomers so as to allow the copolymer to be obtained after polymerization to have a glass transition temperature (Tg) of ≤-20°C and, simultaneously, the above copolymer can be obtained by adding the above monomer mixture to be used for the core-formation and a pH adjustor to the copolymer aqueous solution to be obtained by polymerizing the unsaturated carboxylic acid and the hydrophilic comonomer in an aqueous medium which is an unneutralized aqueous solution to effect polymerization reaction.
