PURPOSE: To improve feeling of disposable diapers by providing holes only through a desirable region of biaxially stretched film with embossed patterns to give air-permeability to the film, while non-permeability to liquid of the film is being maintained.
CONSTITUTION: Low-density polyethylene resin containing calcium carbonate, processing auxiliaries, etc., is thrown into an extruder 1, whereby film is extruded from a T-die 2 so that diamondwise embossed patterns are applied to the film by means of an embossing roll 3. The embossed film 5 is stretched at biaxial tenters 4,4'. The biaxially stretched film 5' is supplied to a thermal process 6, wherein only both the side edges of the film are exposed to a hot air stream which runs perpendicularly against the film, whereas middle region of the film in its width direction is processed by means of masking members so that the hot air stream does not directly strike said region. The synthetic film 7 has sections 23 wherein openings 26 of embossments are arranged in a direction parallel to that of drawing and sections 24 in the middle region wherein embossments have no opening.
