Abstract:
To provide a system, apparatus and method for ultrasound-mediated gastrointestinal drug delivery.SOLUTION: A device 2600 for administering a substance includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end. The elongated body defines an internal chamber extending between the proximal end and the distal end to direct the substance to the distal end. The distal end connects with a concave part 2610. A tip 2608 is at least partially inserted into an orifice of a body lumen of a subject, and has a shape configured to reduce leakage of the substance from the orifice during the at least partial insertion. The tip includes an opening 2612 to pass the substance from the internal chamber into the body lumen, and a transducer to emit an ultrasound wave from the tip into the body lumen to administer the substance to tissue in the body lumen.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 26
