PURPOSE: To improve transmission efficiency of data processing systems for meter reading, bill management, etc. by collecting data generated by consumers at terminals and by sending the collected data to terminal equipment, and then, by sending them to the center as discrimination codes.

CONSTITUTION: Terminal TE has a memory MEM in the inside, and stores terminal codes allocated to each consumer in the terminal TE in an area (a), and amounts of collected money in an area (b), and money collecting condition data, etc., in an area (c), respectively. Moreover, the terminal TE is electrically connected to a terminal equipment DTE through a connecting part JK and terminal codes of the terminal TE are convered into discrimination codes by a table TB2 of the equipment DTE, and then, the code is stored in a memory ME. In addition, the discrimination code of the equipment DTE is sent to a center HCPU and a table TB1 is accessed.
