In a system for judging the rotational state of the rolling mill, this system is provided with a sound collector 22 for collecting the rolling sound generated from the rolling mill, an amplifier 24 for amplifying a rolling-sound signal transduced with the sound collector, a filter 26 for removing noise from the amplified rolling-sound signal, a frequency converting part 28 for converting the rolling-sound signal from which the noise is removed into a frequency information, a frequency analyzing part 30 for totalizing the converted frequency information every component and a state judging part 32 for judging the rotational state on the basis of totalized results.
