Abstract:

PURPOSE: To cancel the protection for a software stored in a CD-ROM only for a user to whom charging processing is performed.

CONSTITUTION: When using the protected software stored in a CD-ROM 40, the approval system generates a user number 116 based on a random number. The user number is sent from a ten key pad 20d of a telephone 20 to a center 30. The center 30 extracts the random number from the user number and generates an ID number from the extracted random number. The user inputs the ID number sent from the center from a keyboard 13. The approval system compares the random number used for the user number with the random number contained in the ID number and when those random numbers are matched, the system cancels the protection of the software stored in the CD-ROM 40 and permits copy.
