To provide a system and a method for responding to an emergency event.
The system and the method provide an emergency response via a wireless system. The system comprises a portable transceiver assembly having an emergency reporting device and a positioning device, and an operation center operably joined to the portable transceiver assembly via a wireless frequency link. The method comprises a step of receiving the position of the portable transceiver assembly, a step of detecting the operation of the emergency reporting device of the portable transceiver assembly, a step of transmitting an emergency reporting signal to a facility control device, a step of transmitting the identifier and position of the portable transceiver assembly to the facility control device, and a step of allowing emergency response measures to be started by an operation center attendant disposed in the operation center.
