To provide a system and a method for remote education supporting small group discussion service.
A control device of remote education system includes: a small group control message receiving section for receiving a small group creating message including the list of participants in a small group selected by an educator out of learners taking remote lessons through an education apparatus in a remote education system; a session information management section creating session control information of the participants in a small group on the basis of the list of participants in the received small group creating message; a server session control section transmitting the created session control information to participants in a small group to direct establishment of communication session between the participants in a small group. Thus, by making it possible to conduct classes in a small group discussion system of learners, learners' participation in class is further activated, and various opinions of learners are reflected to the lesson process.
