Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the system and method to extend the utility of a television system using a solid-state image sensor. CONSTITUTION: An anamorphic optical device 106 is used to change a size of an input image along a vertical axis or a horizontal axis in an unbalancing way. The ratio of the size of the image is changed, resulting in obtaining the utility of higher resolution of a solid-state image sensor 110. Dimensional distortion of the image specific to the anamorphic optical device 106 is compensated when the image is displayed on a display monitor 118. This compensation is conducted by revising a vertical height and/or a horizontal width when the image is displayed.
