Abstract:
To provide a method and system for replacing a device driver during a system operation for performing the hot swap of the device driver without shutting down any device driver stack.
A shell device driver 31 for replacing the entry point interface of a physical device driver is used. When the update of the physical device driver is requested by either an operating system utility or a specific up-grade application, the shell device driver 31 receives an update instruction. The shell device driver 31 ends a necessary task, and connection-releases or unloads the already existing physical device driver, and realizes connection to a new device driver without interrupting any operating system device interface.
