Abstract:
A need exists for a device capable of transporting a fluid backwards and forwards between reservoirs (11, 12) at differing pressure levels, which has only a very low energy requirement, in particular for transporting water between the area surrounding a submerged underwater working appliance and a circuit inside this, for example on an exhaust gas scrubber of a submarine's diesel engine operating in a closed cycle. A device which meets this requirement has a positive displacement unit (13; 32, 33) with a minimum of two positive displacement chambers (18, 19; 40, 41), the size of which can be synchronously varied by a common positive displacement element (15; 34, 42). In addition means are provided of connecting the two positive displacement chambers (18, 19; 40, 41) alternately to one of the two pressure areas (11, 12) each and of compensating for the resultant of the forces exerted by the medium on the positive displacement element (15; 34) by means of a counter-force of at least approximately equal magnitude.
