To prevent UV-irradiation from having adverse effect on health or causing deterioration of surroundings by embedding a UV-ray source in a wall face.
A table 2 is set on the upper surface of air cleaner body 1 and a suction port 3 is provided in the center of the table 2 or thereabout. Contaminated air is sucked through the suction port 3 into the body 1 by means of a motor fan 4 and dust floating in the air is adsorbed to a dust collecting plate at a dust collecting section 5. Since bacterium and viruses are not adsorbed at the dust collecting section 5, a photocatalytic filter 6 is disposed in the downstream of the dust collecting section 5 in order to sterilize or deodor bacterium and viruses when they pass through the filter 6. The photocatalytic filter 6 is regenerated by irradiating the filter 6 with UV-rays from a sterilizing lamp 7. The air cleaned through the dust collecting section 5 and the photocatalytic filter 6 is discharged from the exhaust opening of the body 1. UV-rays are prevented from leaking to the outside by embedding the sterilizing lamp 7 in the body 7.
