A tip part of a stock 100 to be rolled is bitten by a No.1 finish rolling mill F1, and rolled while adjusting the plate shape by providing the bending to upper and lower work rolls 1, 2. The stock is then passed through No.2 to No.9 finish rolling mills F2-F9 to be finish-rolled to the specified thickness. To increase the gap between the finish rolling mills F1-F9, and the gap with a guide plate 28, a rod part of a height adjusting cylinder 17 is lowered and directly supported by abutting a lower face of a slide base 15 on a moving table 16. Then, the gap between a stopper nut 22 and an eye plate 20 on the outlet side is adjusted to the specified value, a guide 19 is rolled down to the guide rail 30 to allow each moving table 16 to be elevated from a base 23. A stopper 36 is elevated to release the lock of the guide 34, and the gap between a moving pole 33 and the moving table 16 is increased.
