Title:
TAP HOLE CARBON BLOCK JOINED STRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIC FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5479106
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurence of a molten metal leak, etc. due to sliding of carbon blocks by engaging prismatic carbon blocks with the right and left sides, and the under surface of a prismatic carbon block through which a tap hole is cut, respectively at each protrusion and each fixing groove.

CONSTITUTION: Prismatic bottom carbon block 2 is joined with pointing material to the under surface of carbon block 1 through which tap hole A for a stationary electric furnace is cut. Prismatic carbon blocks 3, 4 each having tiered face 3a, 4a are engaged with the right and left sides of block 1. Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 are engaged crosswise with each other at each fixing protrusion 5 and fixing groove 6, and they are bonded with carbon cement so that they can not slide laterally and longitudinally. Thus, sliding of the blocks is inhibited which is due to the vibration of a boring drill or a mud gun used to open or close the tap hole, and hence molten metal does not leak from the gaps.
