PURPOSE: To use a tape to the very tape end by detecting the diameter of the winding with a photoelectric switch when a tape pad has a certain number of turns in the taping work for an electric wire or the like.

CONSTITUTION: A photoelectric switch 19 detects that a tape pad 1 has reached a certain diameter and sends a signal to a counter 21 in which the number of remaining tape turns N0 of the tape pad 1 at that time is preset. The number of the feed turns N of a tape 12 after that time is determined as N=N1-N2, where N1, N2 are the numbers of turns of a pad holder 2 and a guide roller receiving disk 14 detected by rotation sensors 22, 23 respectively. When N=N0, the counter 21 sends an end signal to a motor 11 and automatically stops the motor 11. Accordingly, the tape can be detected to the very tape end.
