In the tape winding device 1, a pair of right and left supports 20L, 20R are disposed opposite each other on a base 10. The supports 20L, 20R supports chucks 30L, 30R, and a tape 3 is wound around a winding core 2 held by the chucks 30L, 30R. Lateral displacement motors 21L, 21R are provided at the supports 20L, 20R. For the tape 3, a sensor 56 detecting a position in a direction perpendicular to a tape travel direction before the tape 3 is wound around the winding core 2 is provided. A control device 57 controls the lateral displacement motors 21L, 21R on the basis of an output of the sensor 56 to correct the position of the tape 3 during the travel in the direction perpendicular to the tape travel direction.
