Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device for detecting breakage of a membrane in which breakage of the membrane of a membrane type filter is detected surely without delay and reliability is increased.
CONSTITUTION: This detecting device 10 for breakage of a membrane is equipped with a membrane module 12 and a fine particle gauge 14 and detects breakage of the membrane of a membrane type filter 16. In the membrane type filter, raw water supplied from a raw water tank 18 through a conveying pump 20 is filtrated by the membrane and separated into permeated water and concentrated water. A first return line 22 and a second return line 24 are connected to the suction side of the conveying pump 20 from the outlet of concentrated water of the membrane type filter and the outlet of concentrated water of the membrane module 12. The fine particle gauge is connected to the second return line and measures the number of fine particles in concentrated water. Pore diameter of the membrane of the membrane module is same as that of the membrane of the membrane type filter or is slightly larger than that. When the membrane of the membrane type filter is broken, the measured value of fine particles measured by the fine particle gauge is immediately increased. Therefore, breakage of the membrane of the membrane type filter is detected without delay.
