Abstract:
PURPOSE:To sufficiently enable electric charge to be accumulated even in a dark place and to improve sensitivity by reading out the electric charge from a solid-state image pickup element at a time interval with a period of integer times the field or the frame period. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 4 which outputs a signal to read out the electric charge from the solid-state image pickup element 1 in synchronism with a field signal or a frame signal in a synchronizing signal generation circuit 3 at a ratio of one time per every period of integer times the field or frame period is provided, and the electric charge is read out from the solid-state image pickup clement 1, respectively based on the output of the control circuit 4. Therefore, a timing to read out the electric charge is generated at a ratio of one time per two or more fields or two or more frames, thereby, a time to accumulate the electric charge in the solid-state image pickup element is extended, and a signal of high level can be outputted. In such a way, it is possible to pick up an image even at a comparatively dark place with high sensitivity.
