To solve a problem that operation of a generator is required to be limited when a temperature measuring resistor buried in the stator of the generator is disconnected because temperature monitoring of the stator of the generator is disabled.
The temperature monitoring system comprises temperature measuring resistors 6 and 8 for detecting the cooling air inlet and outlet temperatures of the stator of the generator, temperature converters 7 and 9 for converting the resistance of the temperature measuring resistors into the cooling air inlet and outlet temperature data, a subtractor 10 for calculating a temperature rise value 17 by subtracting the inlet temperature from the outlet temperature, an instrument transformer 11 for converting a load current 15 flowing through an armature winding into a measuring signal level, a current converter 12 for converting the measuring signal level into the load current, an operating unit 13 for calculating a temperature rise value 18 by multiplying the squared of the load current by the armature winding resistance, and a subtractor 14 for subtracting the temperature rise value 18 from the temperature rise value 17. According to the arrangement, temperature can be monitored without using the temperature measuring resistor buried in the stator of the generator.
