To provide a temperature-responsive material with a high safety that can form a gel-like coating on a part of a living body to which the material is applied, in response to a temperature.
A temperature-responsive material is prepared wherein the skeleton of a non-animal polysaccharide (such as a plant polysaccharide like starch) is bonded with a segment that aggregates on heating, the average substitution degree of the segment per the non-animal polysaccharide (based on the saccharide residue) is 0.001-0.5, and the weight average molecular weight of the segment is 1×104-10×104. This material changes from a solution to a gel-like material in response to a temperature, and accordingly, is useful as a component for an antiadhesive material, tissue adhesive, wound coating agent, hemostatic agent, embolic agent, etc. The aggregating segment may be composed of an N-isopropylacrylamide polymer or an N-vinylisobutyramide polymer.
