A burglar monitoring system of a settlement terminal device is composed of a settlement terminal device 10 and a settlement center 20 (GPS management server 26) connected to the settlement terminal device 10 through a radio communication network. The settlement terminal device 10 transmits position information obtained by receiving GPS radio waves to the GPS management server 26, and the GPS management server 26 monitors the position of the settlement terminal device 10, and performs the tamper processing of the settlement terminal device 10 for the settlement terminal device 10 in accordance with a burglar risk. The settlement terminal device 10 prevents useless power consumption necessary to transmit the position information by shortening a transmission period of the position information to the GPS management server 26 in accordance with the burglar risk. Furthermore, a manager's cellular phone 30 is used to confirm the existence/absence of the burglar risk of the settlement terminal device 10 or the like.
