Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a terpolymer for a hair setting product which satisfies the requirement for the same curl retentivity, gives a propane/butane compatibility, forms a hair coating film having a very slight viscosity, and, at the same time, exhibits good capability of being washed off and a stiffening effect enhanced in combination with water solubility.
CONSTITUTION: This terpolymer is obtained by free radical polymerization of 10-24 wt.% N-vinylpyrrolidone, 46-74 wt.% t-butyl acrylate or methacrylate, and 16-30 wt.% acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, whose carboxyl groups may be partially or completely neutralized with an organic amine, ammonia or a basic alkali metal compound and which has a K value of 25 to 65.
