Abstract:

PURPOSE: To avoid wrong test results by detecting an output signal instantaneous value of an ultrasonic vibration feeler in an evaluation unit at a certain point of time during fixed test time, and obtaining the rest result according to one or more instantaneous values in the evaluation unit.

CONSTITUTION: On touching a steam trap to be tested, a sonde rod 3 detects ultrasonic vibration to be guided to a vibration converter 4, and piezo elements 5, 6 output an electric signal, After the start of test, at a designated point of time, an evaluation unit 15 detects an actual value of an output signal of the converter 4 each time, and performs smoothing to obtain an instantaneous value, thereby preventing lowering of accuracy of the actual time in a short time. The unit 15 graph-displays the obtained instantaneous value on a display 16 and compares the respective instantaneous values with a lower threshold. This operation is repeated at each designated point of time during the test time to obtain the average value of all instantaneous values during that time. If not below the threshold, the trap is OK, and if below the threshold, it is tested whether the trap has a fixed functional principle or not.
