Abstract:
To provide an abrasive article which improves cost, performance, or service life of abrasive particles or abrasive articles.SOLUTION: An abrasive article (10) includes a backing (12) which defines a main surface. The abrasive article (10) comprises a polishing layer which is attached to the backing (12) and contains a plurality of tetrahedral abrasive particles (16). Each tetrahedral abrasive particle (16) includes four faces joined by six edges which terminate at four vertices (40, 42, 44, 46). One of each of four faces contacts three of four faces, and the most part of the tetrahedral abrasive particles (16) has at least one of the vertices (40, 42, 44, 46) which are oriented in substantially the same direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
