Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat anorexia by administering a benzodiazepine derivative. SOLUTION: 2-Methyl-4-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-10H-thieno[2,3- b][1,5]benzodiazepine expressed by the formula or its salt is administered orally or by injection. A daily dose for an adult is 0.25-50 mg, most preferably 1-20 mg. For formulation, 1-20 mg of a compound of the formula, i.e., an active component, is mixed with a carrier, or diluted with a carrier to prepare a solid oral preparation. Further, for the treatment of a disease of the central nervous system, a compound of the formula is compounded in an amount of 0.25-100 mg as an active component for formulation. This drug is administered as a dietary intake-controlling agent, especially for increasing or reducing dietary intake.
