Abstract:
To improve the selectivity of an acetylene based hydrocarbon.
A saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon containing at least two carbon atoms in one molecule is thermally decomposed to produce an acetylene-based hydrocarbon. The thermal decomposition is carried out in the presence of steam under 1-15 bar (0.1-1.5 MPa) in the weight ratio of water/hydrocarbon of 0.55-20. The method is suitable for producing methylacetylene.
