To prevent a recording medium from being soiled due to that an image forming agent is accumulated on a peeling member without improving the heat resistance of components having no direct relation to heat the image forming agent stuck to the peeling member.
In this thermal fixing device 18, toner transferred to paper 3 is thermally fixed by a heating roller 26 heated by a heater 36 so as to attain temperature at which the toner is fixed on the paper 3, and a pressure roller 27 pressing the roller 26. Furthermore, the device 18 is provided with a peeling pawl 32 peeling the paper 3 while sliding in contact with the roller 26, and the pawl 32 is heated by a heater 33 so as to attain temperature at which the toner is completely melted. Therefore, even though the toner adhering to the roller 26 is scraped by the pawl 32 and adheres to the pawl 32 as it is, it is completely melted because the pawl 32 itself is set at high temperature, whereby it is restored to the roller 26 before it is accumulated much.
