Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a thermal head drive circuit capable of outputting a high quality recording image having little unevenness.
CONSTITUTION: Reference resistors 15 of equal resistance are connected to heating resistors 16 on a thermal head 9 in series respectively. An electric current flowing in the each heating resistor 16 is detected by measuring a voltage existing between both ends of the reference resistor so that 2 bits of digital data is outputted to a pulse width modulating circuit 13 from an A/D convertor 14. The pulse width modulating circuit 13 selects one of the strobe signals STB1-STB4 so as to choose a most desirable activating time for each heating resistor 16.
