PURPOSE: To provide a thermal insulating supporting leg in which strength against lateral load and buckling is enhanced while allowing easy absorption of forced displacement and suppressing the intrusion of heat.
CONSTITUTION: The thermal insulating supporting leg comprises thermal insulating supporting structures, i.e., inner and outer posts 3 and 1, and a thermal anchor 2 for absorbing forced displacement by means of a thin plate. When the thermal insulating supporting legs are arranged on a circle, forced displacement can be absorbed uniformly and lateral load from different direction can also be absorbed. Buckling can be resisted by means of the inner and outer posts 3 and 1. A superconducting coil 10 is supported by the inner post 3 through a support 7 and the load is transmitted from a support 8 to the lower cover 9 of a thermal insulating vacuum vessel through the thermal anchor 2 and the outer post 1.
