Title:
THERMAL PRINTING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61211056
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable even paper of low smoothness to be clearly printed by using a transfer ribbon with an ink layer which becomes viscous by heating and bending the transfer ribbon so that the transfer ribbon is separated from paper rapidly right after thermal printing by means of a thermal printing head.

CONSTITUTION: A transfer ribbon 3 is composed of a base 5 consisting of film such as polyester and an ink layer 7 formed on the base through a mold lubricant 6 which is easily stripped off the base 5 by heat. The ink layer 7 used is made mainly of a thermoplastic resin. When the heated part of the ink layer 7 adheres to paper 2, the transfer ribbon 3 is immediately separated quickly as it is bent. The separation is such a steady process that the heated part and the unheated part are cut in the boundary between both parts. Further, a heating element 9 is installed in proximity of the rear edge of a head 8 itself, thus allowing the easy bending of the transfer ribbon 3 even after printing.
