PURPOSE: To reduce running cost by providing a thermal foamable sheet comprising a foamable layer on one side of a base, an ink, a partition wall for transmitting variations in volume of the foamable layer to the ink, and a cover provided with at least one minute hole for protruding the ink therethrough.
CONSTITUTION: With a base 1 of a thermal foamable sheet 9 heated, a foamable layer 2 provided on one side of the base 1 is varied in volume, whereby a pressure is exerted through a partition wall 7 on an ink 3 making contact with the sheet 9, and the ink 3 is protruded through a minute hole 4, thereby recording on an image-receiving material. With this construction, it is possible to perform recording over a plurality of record dots by the same part of a recording element, so that running cost is reduced, and there is low possibility of a thermal history problem due to a low thermal output of a heat generating element. Since a cover 5 having the minute hole 4 is present between a recording paper and the ink 3, clear recording without any ground fogging can be achieved on the recording paper even in the case of using a heat-fusible ink which is melted at a low temperature.
