PURPOSE: To enable multicolor recording and to obtain inexpensive and stable color formation, by coating a plurality of color forming layers having different colors in a divided form.

CONSTITUTION: Thermal recording paper 11 is divided into regions A, B along the boundary shown by the broken line not displayed on the recording paper. A color forming layer developing a red color by heating is applied to the region A and one similarly developing a black color to the region B in a divided form. Bu dividing the color forming layer as mentioned above, recording by a red color and that by a black color can be respectively performed in the region A and the region B. This dividing coating of the regions A, B of the thermal recording paper is performed, for example, by such a method that the first region A is applied to paper in a strip form in the flow direction thereof in a first process and the remaining second regio B is further coated in a second process. Then, if the coated paper is cut in a proper size, the heat-sensitive paper can be obtained.
