PURPOSE: To provide thermal recording paper low in chargeability and excellent in paper discharge property, formed by containing Na-salt or K-salt of specific org. carboxylic acid in the recording layer and/or support of recording paper.
CONSTITUTION: Na-salt or K-salt of 2W15C monovalent or divalent org. carboxylic acid (e.g., sodium acetate) (D) is added to a coating solution, prepared by dispersing a colorless or light-colored electron donating dye (e.g., Crystal Violet lactone) (A), a phenolic compound (e.g., bisphenol A) (B) and a binder of which the solutility to water is 5% or more at 25°C (e.g., CMC) (C) in water, in an amount of 0.05W0.5g/m2 as a Na or K-ion amount. Subsequently, the aforementioned coating solution is applied to a support in which the component (D) is contained if necessary and dried to form a thermal recording layer. By this method, thermal recording paper reduced in influence to fog generation during storage is obtained.
