PURPOSE: To provide a miniaturized thermal transfer printer having a simple structure.
CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer printer is equipped with at least respective feed means feeding a thermal transfer sheet and an intermediate transfer recording medium 2 and a recording part 10 having the platen 3 arranged on the way of the feed route of the thermal transfer sheet and the intermediate transfer recording medium and a thermal head 4 bringing the fed thermal transfer sheet and the intermediate transfer recording medium to a pressure contact state between the platen roller 3 and the thermal head to record an image on the receiving layer of the intermediate transfer recording medium 2 by a plurality of heating resistors generating heat corresponding to image data. In this printer, a means for unwinding the intermediate transfer recording medium 2 is provided.
