Title:
THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61272194
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable favorable thermal recording to be conducted even on a paper having a low surface smoothness, by a system wherein a thermal head is magnetized, and a magnetic material is mixed in a heat-fusible ink of an ink film.

CONSTITUTION: The thermal head 1 comprises a heat-releasing plate 11, a head base 12 and a heating element 13, and its surface brought into contact with the ink film 2 is magnetized to be an S pole. The ink film 2 comprises a base film 21 and a heat-fusible ink 22 containing fine particles 23 magnetized in S polarity, and is pressed against a platen 4 through a recording paper 3 by the head 1. Since the fine particles 23 mixed in the ink 22 are magnetized in S polarity, when the heating element 13 is driven according to the recording information to generate heat, the particles 23 in the melted part of the ink 22 are repelled by the S pole of the contact surface of the plate 11, and penetrates into recessed parts of the surface of the recording paper 3 and into pores 31 together with the ink 22.
