PURPOSE: To enable a previously recorded image to be easily positioned and prevent an image to be corrected from being left uncorrected, by using an optical detecting means for images recorded on a recording paper, and correcting the recorded images according to detection data.
CONSTITUTION: A CCD unit 10 is provided as an optical detecting means on a carriage 6. To correct a recorded image, the carriage 6 is moved by operating a carriage-moving key on a keyboard 1, and an area including the recorded image to be corrected is read by the CCD unit 10. A reading signal is converted by an A/C converter 13, and the resultant signal is transferred to a signal- processing part 17 to be displayed on a liquid crystal display device 10. Two line form cursors on the display device 19 are moved at minimum pitches of 1mm by operating cursor-moving keys, and the front and trailing ends of a correcting area are specified. Then, a correcting key on the keyboard 11 is depressed, whereby the carriage 6 is moved to a correcting position, a recording head 5 and a delay roller 9 are pressed against a back platen 2, and heat generating elements of the head 5 are energized to generate heat selectively according to the data on the recorded image read by the CCD unit 10, whereby correction is performed.
