PURPOSE: To easily produce a full-color copy by so arranging a thermal head via a moving mechanism as to be moved to a position where a film is pressed against a paper only when printing is performed, and setting an IDF corresponding to the color information of an image in a printing part by the thermal head.

CONSTITUTION: A cassette holder 40 has four storing parts of IDF cassettes (ink donor film cassettes) in an approximately cylindrical holder frame 41. Each storing part accommodates IDF cassettes 30, 30a-30c. As the cassette holder 40 is rotated, a thermal head 21 is stopped at a position not to obstruct the movement of the IDF cassettes. After the selected IDF cassette is fixed at a printing part below the thermal head 21, the thermal head 21 is lowered by a pinion to a position where an end of the thermal head presses an IDF 31. Accordingly, printing is effected onto a paper passing the printing part. A full-color copy is thus easily obtained.
