PURPOSE: To reduce a cam, a drive motor, a transmission gear and a lever and to attain cost reduction and miniaturization due to the conservation of parts, by using the cam changing the pressing force of a press roller and the cam performing the separation of a thermal head by pressing force in common.

CONSTITUTION: The titled apparatus is provided with the press roller 27 for pressing roll shaped recording paper 26 to a feed roller 25, the lever 34 having said press roller 27 mounted thereto and a pressure increasing lever 34 for pushing up the lever 34 at the time of recording to increase the pressing force of the press roller 27 and has the platen 28 provided so as to be contacted with transfer paper 32 having ink transferred by the application of heat and recording paper and the thermal head 29 contacted with said platen under pressure through the recording paper and the transfer paper. Further, a pressure release lever 42 for allowing the thermal head to forcibly contact with and separate from the platen 28 and a cam 39, which is constituted so that the pressure release lever is contacted with the platen under pressure when pushes up the lever and pushes up the thermal head when the pressure increase lever is spaced apart from the lever, are mounted.
