To provide a thermal transfer recording medium which shows high transfer sensitivity at the time of high speed photographic step, so that a dye to be used for a dye layer can be reduced, and an abnormal transfer in photographic step can be inhibited even at high temperature and high humidity after preservation.
This thermal transfer recording medium includes a heat-resistant lubricative layer formed on one of the surfaces of a base material and an undercoat layer 20 and a dye layer successively formed on the other surface of the base material. The undercoat layer 20 can be obtained by applying and drying a coating fluid containing, as a principal component, at least either of kinds selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble polymer, an acryl-modified polyester, alkoxide and its hydrolytic product and tin chloride.
