Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance heat resistance and slipperiness on a head and completely preventing hot sticking, by providing a hot sticking preventive layer by using a fluorine-containing compound such as a fluoro surface active agent and a fluororesin as a main constituent which is mixed with a heat-resistant resin.

CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer recording medium comprises a thermal transfer layer 3 provided on the upper side of a base film 1, either directly or with a release agent layer 2 therebetween, and a hot sticking preventive layer 4 provided on the lower side of the base film 1. In the recording medium, the hot sticking preventive layer 4 is provided by using a fluorine-containing compound such as a fluoro surface active agent and a fluororesin as a main constituent which is mixed with a heat-resistant resin. The mixing ratio of the fluorine-containing compound and the resin is ordinarily selected in the range of 50W65% based on the total amount of solid components in the coating agent for forming the hot sticking preventive layer 4. The layer 4 is provided by applying an organic solvent solution or aqueous solution of the coating agent for forming the layer 4, followed by drying or hardening to provide the layer 4 in a thickness of about 0.05W3μm.
